Introduction Passport Photo Booth from Kiwis World is a tool for users to DIY their passport photos. With high quality cameras getting main streams, DIY your passport photos are never been easier, you will save time and some money.


How it works Register a free account in our site, and you can access a Demo that allows you to play around with. The demo has disabled the photos upload function. However, you can cropping the passport photo using a sample photo provided, so you can familiar with the process.

There are steps as below:

  1. Take your own photos, perhaps this is the hardest part. There are some requirements by Immigration New Zealand, please see the section below for more details.
  2. Upload the photos (there are two photo slots, new photos uploaded to the slot will over write old one from that slot. Therefore, it will be best to work on two at a time).
  3. Clicked on the "Proceed" button to start.
  4. Select the passport size you want. (You can manually type the size you want to accommodate different passport size requirement for other countries).
  5. Resize or move the cropping frame. Once it is done, click on "Finish".


After complete the process, there will be two files available to download. To download the photos, Right mouse clicked the photo, then select "Save Image As".

For Online Application Download the online-xxxxx.jpg file, checking if it is suitable by using the Online Photo Checker from Immigration New Zealand website.
For Paper Application Use Online Photo Checker from Immigration New Zealand website to check the online-xxxx.jpg file first. Then download the "paperprint-xxxx.jpg". Print the photo from a shop. eg Noel Leeming, or Narvey Norman etc...

When you print from a shop, please select these settings. 6" x 4", glossy photo prints. The number of photos can be fitted on a 6" x 4" print is depends on what size you are selected to crop.

Tips for taking you photos
  • Choose a plain white background.
  • Make sure sufficient lighting, watch out for the shadows.
  • Try not to use flash, because when using flash in front of the person, shadows usually will show up in the photo.
  • If you find the photo is little bit dark, adjust the exposure setting on your camera.
  • Only use the sharp and clear photos, blur photos will be rejected by the Online Photo Checker.
